This year's theme, "Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future," coupled with the broader focus on "A Global Call for Climate Action," underscores the importance of nature-based solutions in addressing climate change and securing a sustainable future.

Every tree, flowing river, and fertile piece of land contributes to a delicate balance that sustains both people and nature. Yet too often, the environment is viewed merely as a resource to be used, rather than as the foundation of our collective well-being. World Environment Day serves as a reminder that protecting nature is essential for building resilient communities and safeguarding future generations.
In line with this year's theme, Davis & Shirtliff partnered with key stakeholders to mark the occasion through a tree-planting exercise at Kariobangi South Primary School. As part of its contribution to the initiative, D&S donated 100 trees to support the planting exercise. The event brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from the National Government Chiefs’ office, the County Environment Team, and Climate Worx, all of whom joined in supporting efforts toward environmental restoration through tree planting. Speaking during the event, Lydia Onditi, ESG & Partnerships Manager at Davis & Shirtliff, emphasized the importance of sustainability, noting that the initiative aligns with Kenya’s national goal of planting 15 billion trees. Other stakeholders, including Chief Environment Officer for Embakasi East Sub-County, Madam Faith Kibet, and the school headteacher, Madam Nancy, also echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the importance of environmental stewardship in driving meaningful change.
